I think these two pieces of motion graphics have some very
strong elements to them. The most intriguing part about these two pieces, to
me, is the amount of colors that are used. There is a plethora of aspects to
any motion graphic that catch the eye, but to me, colors do it the best. Colors
are effective in motion graphics because the things are always moving in the
picture, and moving colors certainly draw some attention to them.
The Nintendo history graphic interests me greatly because it
brings me back to certain parts of my childhood. I wasn’t all that big into
playing video games, but I certainly played my fair share. Some of the systems
from back in the day really bring back some great memories of staying up late
and playing video games with my friends. So there’s a bit of nostalgia there.
The second motion graphic is great because it’s always
moving. It’s as if the entire video is moving from left to right. That does a
great job of keeping me engaged. Not only that, but the choice of song works
very well. It’s a pop song, so it’s definitely recognizable. I was certainly
drawn in initially when I heard the song, and I was hooked for the rest of the
graphic.
As far as choosing to do one for myself, I haven’t really
given it a whole lot of thought. I was thinking about maybe doing something
about sports, because it’s certainly my main interest. If there was a
possibility of doing something that had to do with the Winnipeg Jets that would
be ideal. They’re my favorite sports team, so it would certainly keep me
interested in it. Like Photoshop, I don’t have any experience working with this
software, so simplicity will again be the key when it comes to this project. I
may find that once I get working on it, the hockey idea may be much too unrealistic.
